It was the Independence Day holiday. Everybody’s enjoying the long weekend. This year, I decided to have some fun as well.

I went to a firework party with Frances in her ex-colleague’s apartment. We got a very nice view of the East River and the Hudson River. The fireworks were so beautiful. I can’t be any more proud that Chinese actually invented them, which become the symbol of celebration and happiness. However, Frances made a very interesting point – this is how we get our tax dollars back.

Looking at the fabulous flower blooming fireworks, I always like to make a wish, actually a couple sometimes. One of them for this year is a great success for Beijing Olympics…

The host of the party is a very cute couple, an Indian guy and a Swiss girl. Two years ago, she was in NYC for a three-month internship; sublet his roommate’s room in a four-bedroom apartment. They went out together and got along great, and decided to stay in the relationship. Therefore, she got a job in NYC and moved here for LOVE! What a lovely story! I wish them the best, and thank them for being such a good host of the party.

This morning, on my usual jogging path to the Brooklyn Bridge, a question came to my mind – where is my destination? At that very second, I felt like I couldn’t breathe, because I don’t know, or maybe I don’t know yet, or maybe I would never know. Perhaps, life can be much easier and simpler if we don’t mess it up with the complexity of our own human brain. I started to count my steps simply from one to eight repeatedly and I got back my quality breathing. I ran to the point where I normally jog to, took a nice walk down the bridge and then I decided to turned around and do that again. I reached the point that I normally jog to for the second time this morning, and took a nice walk down the bridge and came home, with a nice and paced breathing. What a nice work out!

Counting from one to eight is very simple, yet can keep you on the right track, as long as we don’t get into the infinite decimal. There is probably no exact answer for life, what we got to do is to do the right things, do the things right, try to live the fullest out of it and see where life leads us. Yet, never feel sorry for yourself, because you’ve done your best, and make sure you enjoy your life journey.
